Bad Bounce Ruining Your Game? Here’s What’s Happening.

If your pickleball court isn’t playing like it used to, the culprit is likely dirt, dust, or debris sneaking under your surface. We recently visited a court in Wimberley where caliche dust buildup from a nearby hillside was causing dead ball bounce.

When soft dirt gets trapped under your tiles, you’re left with a soft-on-soft surface, meaning the ball won’t pop the way it should. The quick fix? A maintenance call. We’ll lift your tiles, pressure wash the court, and reset everything for a clean, level play surface. If you’ve got drainage issues, we’ll help you figure out how to stop the problem before it starts.

If your old Sport Court just isn’t cutting it for pickleball anymore, here’s your game plan:

  • Try the Compost A Ball. (More on that in a second.)
  • Call us for a court maintenance visit.
  • Still not getting the bounce you need? Let’s talk about resurfacing.

Compost A Ball: Better Bounce, Happier Planet

Speaking of bounce, we’ve been testing a new compostable pickleball—and the results are impressive. The Pro Pickle Compost A Ball is made from wheat straw and rice husk, and not only is it eco-friendly, but it outperforms traditional plastic balls. Keeping Mother Earth and your dinks happy.

We did a bounce test from 70 inches on our Sport Game PB™ surface and here’s how it stacked up:

 Compost A Ball: 39-41 inches

 Durafast 40: 26.75 inches

 Gamma Photon: 25 inches

 Onyx Fuse: 30.5 inches

Not only does it bounce better, but the natural material grips the court and paddle better, giving players more control. And the best part? It breaks down in just 100 days in a landfill—unlike traditional plastic balls that will stick around for centuries.

So before you assume your court is the problem, try a better ball. If that doesn’t help, give us a call, and we’ll get your court playing like new again.

Let’s Get Your Court Right
